ChartRate — Privacy Policy
Last updated August 25, 2026
Summary
ChartRate has no user accounts, no tracking, no analytics SDKs, and no advertising. Your watchlist and its cached market data live on your device, and rating alerts are computed on your device from data it has already fetched. Two things ever leave your device: a chart photo you choose to scan — sent to our server to generate its rating, then discarded, as described below — and, if you subscribe, purchase records handled by Apple and by our payments provider, RevenueCat. There is no push service and no device token.
What the app stores
Your watchlist, trading-style preference, and cached end-of-day price history are stored locally on your device only. Deleting the app deletes this data. We operate one server of our own: it powers chart-photo ratings, stores no images and no personal data, and keeps only anonymous daily rate-limit counters. None of your data is backed up anywhere.
Market data requests
To compute ratings, the app requests end-of-day price history for the ticker symbols you follow from a public market-data source. These requests contain the ticker symbol and standard network information (such as your IP address, seen by any internet service you connect to). They contain no name, account, or identifier tying the request to you.
Camera and photos
The camera and photo library are used to capture a chart image for rating. The image travels over an encrypted connection to our server (hosted on Cloudflare) and is passed to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the rating, then discarded. We never store your images, they are never used to train AI models, and the rating is generated from the image alone. Camera access is optional — you can always type a ticker instead.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see or store your payment details. To unlock the subscription on your device and let you restore it later, purchase records are validated and stored by RevenueCat, our payments provider, acting on our behalf. What RevenueCat receives is the transaction from Apple, a randomly generated app user ID, and your device identifier. It is not tied to your name or email, we do not use it for tracking or advertising, and it is used only to tell the app whether your subscription is active. If you never subscribe, nothing is sent.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data is stored on your device, you are in control: remove a ticker to delete its data, or delete the app to remove everything. Chart photos are not retained anywhere after analysis, so there is no server-side copy to request deletion of.
Children
ChartRate is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the updated version will ship with the app and be posted at the policy URL listed on the App Store. Questions: realam47@gmail.com.
